SUMMARY The Business Modelling/Operational Research Team is part of our internal consultancy unit, providing professional consultancy services to support key business priorities. Consultants are involved in a wide variety of projects, working predominantly in small project teams working closely with customers throughout the different business units of this large organisation. JOB DESCRIPTION The consultancy affects all aspects of the business - recent work has included detailed modelling operations, design and evaluation of transport networks, predicting customer behaviour, segmenting of outlets for sales promotions and estimating the potential impact of competition. It is expected that you will have an OR background with proven business modelling skills REQUIREMENTS Educated at least to degree level with a significant Maths / OR content you should be a proactive team player, show attention to detail and have at least 2 years experience in an analytical role in which OR and business modelling has been a significant part. You must have the ability to present results clearly and persuasively. You will have the ability to understand the business issues being addressed and extract the important business features to be modelled. An ability to understand the implications of the assumptions which have been made and how that is likely to constrain how the model can be used is essential. A high level of computer literacy is required and it is expected that you will be competent in the use of Excel Access and SAS.
